Student Advocate
The Office of the Student Advocate at the University of Peloponnese functions as an independent, non-remunerated mediation authority. Its primary mission is to facilitate dialogue between students (undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral) and academic or administrative staff, safeguard legality, uphold academic freedom, combat maladministration, and preserve the smooth operation of the Institution.
By preventing conflicts and promoting academic dignity, the Student Advocate provides objective, continuous support to all students throughout their academic journey.
Important Scope Limitation
Please note that the Student Advocate does NOT have jurisdiction over student examination matters and course grades. Issues concerning grades or academic re-evaluations must be addressed directly through the instructors or the Departmental Assembly.
Key Responsibilities & Scope
The Student Advocate leads the autonomous office and exercises the following duties:
Investigation & Mediation
Investigates cases (ex officio or upon student petition) and mediates with university bodies. May request documents, examine witnesses, or issue findings on maladministration or legal non-compliance.
Awareness & Guidance
Provides comprehensive information to university personnel and students regarding the operation, authority, and mission of the Student Advocate.
Educational Actions
Designs and coordinates educational activities in synergy with internal units and external bodies, including the Citizen's Advocate and Student Advocates from other HEIs.
Integrity & Transparency
Participates in formulating internal policies, developing ethical tools, drafting the Code of Conduct, Managing Conflict of Interest regulations, and anti-corruption protocols.
Institutional Synergy
Collaborates with governing authorities, the Ethics Committee, Internal Audit, Integrity Advisor, and HR units to implement robust standards of institutional integrity.
Annual Reporting
Submits annual activity reports and policy proposals to the Rector, Governing Council, and Senate, published on the University website in compliance with GDPR rules.
